From Nov 1990 to Oct 1993 (as an IAS Officer of the 1978 batch, AGMUT cadre) served as Deputy Secretary and Director in the then Department of Industrial Development, Ministry of Industry, Government of India, where, amongst other things, dealt with all IP policy matters and represented the Government of India in all international negotiations including in multilateral IP negotiations in (a) the TRIPS Negotiating Group of the then GATT (predecessor of the WTO) and (b) the WIPO.
Travelled for professional work worldwide to some 70 countries, worked in-person with colleagues from over 110 countries and online blended IP training courses in some 140 countries.
He has worked closely with WHO, UNESCO, UNIDO, UNDP, ILO, World Bank, ADB, UNCTAD, Asian Productivity Organization, ESCAP, UNECE, ESCWA, ECA, ECLAC, FAO, International Trade Centre (WTO/UNCTAD) and lectured extensively face-to-face in some 70 countries worldwide on a diverse range of IP for business issues.

Mr R Saha is a B Tech from IIT Kanpur in Aeronautical Engineering. He got his master's degree from Cranfield University in England. He served the Government of India for 35 years in different capacities and handling different responsibilities including research and development and retired as Scientist G and Adviser from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He has wide experience in technology evaluation and assessment, intellectual property rights management, regulatory processes and R&D; policies and project implementation. He has been a pioneer in leading the national efforts in policy making and capacity building in IPR. He planned and conducted two training programmes on IPR for developing countries drawing a participation of about 30 countries. He was invited as an international resource person to speak on IPR in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Namibia, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Oman, Malaysia, China, Philippines, Mauritius, Mexico, and Uganda. He conducted more than 400 IPR workshops in India and other countries. 20 Patent Information Centers at state levels and 60 university IPR cells were set up in India under his leadership. He has been helping universities in developing their IPR policies. About 1000 patent applications were filed under his guidance on behalf of universities and R&D; institutions. He represented India in discussions at WIPO and, was involved in negotiating international agreements on IPR in the context of scientific research and development.

He was appointed a consultant by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to prepare a National Study on IPR and MSME in India as a part of WIPO's Development Agenda. The study was completed in 2012.

He has been the Senior Adviser to CII since 2011, advising them on IPR policies and other substantial issues being faced by the Indian industry like preparing policy papers, conducting round table meetings with industries, international organizations etc. He is also the Chairman of the committee set up by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India for providing IPR support to start ups and conducting awareness programmes. He was the MHRD Chair Professor in IPR at the Tezpur University, a Central university. Presently, he advises many institutions like IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, C-DAC, NRDC, Indian Council of Medical Research and many government departments on IPR matter.

Ashutosh Sharma is Institute Chair Professor at IIT Kanpur, President of the Indian National Science Academy (2023-25), Co-chair of S20/G20 and a former Secretary to the Government of India heading its Department of Science and Technology (January 2015–2021). He was a Professor (1997–), and the Head (2003–05) of Chemical Engineering, and the founding Coordinator of Nanosciences Center and Advanced Imaging Center at the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur. Ashutosh received his PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNYAB; 1988) working with PROF. Eli Ruckenstein—a recipient of the US Medal of Science, his MS from the Pennsylvania State University (1984) and B.Tech. from IIT Kanpur (1982).

Ashutosh has had a broad international experience as a research faculty at SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine (1988–90), visiting faculty at University of Texas at Austin, University of Western Ontario, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the World Class University Program of South Korea and as a Member of the European Research Commission.

Ashutosh’s research contributions are highly interdisciplinary, spanning a wide range in nanotechnology; thin polymer films; nanocomposites and devices in energy, health and environment; functional interfaces; micro/nano-mechanics of soft matter; nano-patterning and nanofabrication; colloid and interfacial engineering; biomaterials and biosurfaces; wetting and adhesion. He has published over 350 peer-reviewed papers, filed over 15 patents, given over 100 invited or keynote conference presentations and mentored a nanotechnology startup.

Ashutosh is a recipient of numerous honors and awards including the inaugural Infosys Prize in Engineering and Computer Science, TWAS Science Prize of the World Academy of Sciences, Bessel Research Award of the Humboldt Foundation, J. C. Bose Fellowship, Bhatnagar Prize, Homi J. Bhabha Award of UGC, The Syed Husain Zaheer Medal of INSA, Distinguished Alumni Awards of IIT Kanpur and SUNY Buffalo, Lifetime Achievement Award of the Indian Science Congress, UNESCO Medal for “Contribution to Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology”, H.K. Firodia Award for Excellence in Science & Technology and Meghnad Saha Medal of INSA. PROF. Sharma received Padma Shri in the category of Science and Engineering in 2025 for his contributions in nanoscience and nanotechnology. He has also received six D.Sc. honoris causa from universities in the USA and India.

Ashutosh is an elected Fellow of The Indian National Science Academy, The Indian Academy of Sciences, The National Academy of Sciences, India and Indian National Academy of Engineering, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials. He has also served on the Councils of the first two. He has been an associate editor of ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Proceedings of Indian National Science Academy and ASME Journal of Micro- and Nano-Manufacturing and has been on the editorial boards of several journals: Carbon; ACS Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research; Current Science; Nanomaterials and Energy; Chemical Engineering Science; Journal of Colloid and Interface Science; Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering and Indian Chemical Engineer.

Ashutosh’s other interests are in ancient history and philosophy, poetry, and art.

Commodore Amit Rastogi (Retd), is the Chairman & Managing Director of National Research Development Corporation, a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. NRDC is a pioneer and leading Technology Transfer Organization of India with a charter to develop, promote, and commercialise technologies emanating from R&D institutions.

He holds a B.Tech. (Electrical), Masters in Electronics & Tele-Communication, and M.Sc. (Defence & Strategic Studies) degrees, besides being a distinguished alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College Wellington and the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad.

He had an illustrious career in the Indian Navy for 34 years, wherein he gained diversified experience serving on frontline warships, naval dockyards, naval headquarters, missile establishments, and the Directorate General Quality Assurance, among others.

Since taking over the reins of NRDC, he has provided much-needed leadership by expanding NRDC’s footprint through the establishment of outreach centres at Pune, Guwahati, and Bhubaneshwar; enhancing foreign collaborations with USPTO, AARDO, EBTC, JETRO, DKPTO, etc.; obtaining proud partner status with WIPO Green; augmenting infrastructure with enhanced capacity at the NRDC Incubation Centre in support of the start-up ecosystem; and executing MOUs with Navratnas, CSIR, MHI, Dept. of Atomic Energy, IITs, IISc, Indian Navy, and a large number of universities.

He has been nominated to the Core Committee of WIPO Green for a period of two years with effect from 2024.

He also steered NRDC’s efforts in establishing the National Establishment of Technology Readiness Assessment (NETRA) facility, Design Clinic, and IP/Technology Valuation vertical.

The receipt of multiple recognitions including the IP Recognition Award 2021, National IP Award 2023, ASSOCHAM 3rd & 4th IP Excellence Awards, 9th and 10th PSU Governance Award for ‘Excellent’ grading in Corporate Governance, 11th PSU Governance Award in Corporate Communication Strategy, and the PSU Samarpan Award 2025, signifies NRDC’s quest to excel under his guidance.

He is a yoga practitioner, a keen golfer, a photography enthusiast, and a Randonneur (long-distance cyclist).

Professor (Dr.) Raman Mittal is a Professor at Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law,University of Delhi. He joined University of Delhi in 2005 and has been Professor-in-Charge of Campus Law Centre and Head and Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Before joining University of Delhi PROF. Mittal worked at the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and Winthrop Stimson Putnam and Roberts—a law firm in the USA. He holds LL.M. (University Gold Medalist) and Ph.D. from Panjab University together with M.S.S. from International Space University, France. PROF. Mittal did his Post-doctoral from the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich.

PROF. Mittal has published extensively in national and international journals and has also authored and edited several books. His research works have appeared in Journal of Indian Law Institute, Journal of Consumer Policy (Springer), Journal of Intellectual Property Rights (CSIR-NISCAIR), Les Nouvelles (Licensing Executive Society International), Space Policy (Elsevier), Uniform Law Review (UNIDROIT), IP Tech Law Journal, Oxford University Press, Springer, Edward Elgar, Kluwer Academic Publishers, Routledge, Verlag C.H. Beck and Satyam Law International among others. PROF. Mittal has edited the Journal of Indian Law Institute, Delhi Law Review and the Journal of Campus Law Centre. His research interests include Intellectual Property, Contract, Licensing, Banking, Insurance and International Laws. He speaks widely on issues related to these areas in India and abroad.

PROF. Mittal has visited various legal institutions in the capacity of academic visitor; the prominent being Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition—Munich, University of Washington—Seattle, University of Tokyo, University of Seoul, International Institute of Human Rights—Strasbourg, World Intellectual Property Organization and World Trade Organization.

PROF. Mittal has advised the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in treaty negotiations and was a member of Indian Delegation to the World Intellectual Property Organization to negotiate international treaties in the area of copyright. Prof Mittal was a member of the Drafting Committee that was tasked with the drafting of Indian Copyright Rules, 2013.

Dr Ajay Kumar Parida is an Indian biologist noted for his contributions in the fields of agriculture, plant molecular biology and biotechnology. In 2014, Parida was awarded the Padma Shri Award by the President of India [1] for his contribution in the field of Science and Technology.

Parida, who was born and raised in Bhagabanpur, a village in the Jajpur district of Odisha, is the Director of the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. ILS (www.ils.res.in) is an autonomous institution of the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. He served as the Executive Director of the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, [3] Chennai during 2009-2017.

Dr. Parida's major scientific contribution is in the area of application of frontier technology for addressing major challenges in global and national declining agriculture productivity threatened due to climate change, sea level rise and reduced precipitation. His research aims at developing location specific crop varieties to cope with the adverse impact of climate change and has significant implications in bringing in stability and sustainability of the major farming systems.

Parida has used advanced biotechnological tools for crop improvement. He has made pioneering contributions in identifying stress tolerant genes specifically for salt and drought stress.

Parida's research has also contributed to the basic understanding of the genetic architecture and species relationship in mangroves, and wild relatives of cultivated cereals, legumes and other cultivated crop species. He has supervised 20 students for their Ph.D. degree. With more than 70 peer reviewed publications in international journals, Parida's research contributions has been widely cited and many of the publications are of significant value to increasing the basic understanding of the process and mechanisms associated with genetic resources characterization, conservation genetics, stress biology and biotechnology related policy issues.

Errol D'Souza is a Professor of Economics and the Director at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.

Errol studied Economics and Statistics at the University of Mumbai where he was awarded the Kashinath Trimbak Telang gold medal for obtaining the first rank in his M.A. (Economics) degree. He obtained his Ph.D. as a University Grants Commission National Research Fellow from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

He has held appointments such as the IFCI Chair Professor at the University of Mumbai, India Chair Professor at the University Sciences Po in Paris, as a Visiting Professor of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, as an Honorary Senior Fellow of the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore, a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, and as a Visiting Professor at the Turin School of Development of the ILO. He has worked on academic committees of the University Grants Commission and the Indian Council of Social Science Research, and has been associated with the Planning Commission of India and the Reserve Bank of India in various capacities, including as a Member, Technical Advisory Committee on Monetary Policy. He has been on the Academic Council of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, the Institute for Human Development, Delhi, and is on the Advisory Board of the International Centre for Development and Decent Work at Kassel, Germany. He was a Director of the National Housing Bank and is currently on the Board of Governors of the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi, the Rajasthan Shram Sarathi Association, Udaipur, and the India Gold Policy Centre.

He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Quantitative Economics (Springer), the Indian Journal of Labour Economics (Springer), and Macroeconomics and Finance in Emerging Market Economies (Taylor & Francis). He is engaged in research in the areas of macroeconomics, development finance and public policy.

PROF. (Dr.) Harish Hirani, Director, CSIR-CMERI and Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is known in Mechanical Design, Inclusive Innovation, Rural Development and Tribology. He joined in March 2016 as Director, CSIR- CMERI. Under his leadership CSIR-CMERI has grown as a laboratory for waste management engineering. Through his innovative thinking he could transform waste to Wealth and could setup a green colony at CSIR-CMERI colony Durgapur with absolutely zero waste. He started effective integrated (mechanized segregation of waste, biomethanation, sludge to briquette, pyrolysis, plasma gasification, ashes to bricks) waste management systems, where each system is designed to complement the others. Using such system of decentralized waste management, he could prove to eliminate Landfills and minimmize societal and ecological distress.

He is Fellow of The Institute of Engineers and recognized for Outstanding Vision, Leadership & Contribution in the Field of Engineering Innovation and R&D Management by The Institute of Engineers (India) in 2019. He served as Vice Chairman of JEE Advanced during 2014-16, Editor of Indian Journal of Tribology (IJT) and Vice-Chairman of Delhi Chapter of Tribology Society of India (TSI). He was awared BOYSCAST fellowship in 2004 by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India to pursue research with PROF. Nam P. Suh at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). Before joining IIT Delhi he was the faculty of IIT Bombay. Innovation is his passion and he has a good number of intellectual property rights (IPR) to his credit. He has conducted a number of educational courses on innovation for participants from MSME and engineering colleges. He is the author of the book entitled 'Fundamentals of Engineering Tribology with Applications' and one Chapter on 'Friction and Wear of Sliding Bearings' in ASM Handbook, Volume 18: Friction, Lubrication, and Wear Technology. He has guided several Ph.D. and M.Tech. theses. He has published more than 70 research papers in peer reviewed journal.

He believes in adopting multi-pronged approach: innovations for poorest of poor, science for industrial economics, and inventions in cutting edge technologies to remain sustainable. His mission is to innovate and design products which really ease the lives of the millions of Indians and promote "Make in India". Ever since his joining CSIR-CMERI, a number of technologies to the Industries viz. Rotating Solar power tree, Jal Kavach, Plasma Disposal of Plastic Waste & generation of Syngas, Metal Detector using Magnetic Field Splitting, Solar Artefact, Krishi Shakti tractor, Plastic Waste Gasification Process, Salivary Fluoride Detection kit, Large Scale Production of Graphene Oxide, Improved Iron Removal Plant (Community level), Domestic Iron Filter, Multi-Fab Micro Fabrication Machine, Solar Tree 3 kWp, Design of 11.0 kWp Solar Artifact, 3 kWp Solar Flora, Community Level Arsenic Removal Plant, Community Level Fluoride Removal Plant, Road Sanitizer, Soap Dispensing Unit and Sanitization Walkway have been transferred.

Praveen Nahar is the Director of National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad with its extension campuses in Gandhinagar and Bengaluru. He has also been a faculty member in the Product Design discipline at NID since 2002.

Nahar studied Production Engineering at the undergraduate level; he did his master's in Industrial Design from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, in addition to pursuing a postgraduate course in Sustainable Design from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. He has over 23 years of experience in design teaching, consultancy, and research. Prior to joining NID, he was a lecturer in Industrial Design at IIT Bombay for 4 years and also worked as a research associate in Transportation Research at IIT Delhi for 2 years.

Nahar has been on the institute's Senate and Policy Planning Committee for several years and has served in various positions at NID as Activity Chairperson of various departments such as: International Programmes, Research & Publications, Knowledge Management Centre, and Design Consultancy Services; he was also the Vice Chairperson of Outreach Programmes and Head of the Design Vision Centre at NID. He also has been a member of various committees and advisory groups at NID.

He taught extensively in the Product Design discipline for several years and was also the Discipline Lead of the same. Nahar has also been the lead and mentor for the Transportation & Automobile Design discipline during its formative years at NID.

His range of academic and professional interests include: Systems Thinking in Design, Design Thinking, Sustainable Design/Green Design, Design in the Public Domain, Social Design, Appropriate Technology, and Strategic Design to name a few.

Nahar has been involved in various research projects and consultancy projects at both the micro and strategic levels in various domains of the industrial and social sectors. Some of the significant ones include 'Diagnostic Study and Institutional Framework for Crafts in Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat & Madhya Pradesh'. He worked on many projects with Amul Dairy Cooperative ranging from designing packaging of value added milk products & milk distribution service. He made significant contribution towards designing Mumbai Suburban Trains and Mumbai Monorails apart from working on several other important projects for the Indian Railways which led to the setting up of the Railway Design Centre (RDC) at NID.

His research project titled 'Design thinking for Prison Industries' with UAL, UK received many accolades including British Council-CII India-UK excellence award for Collaborations in Higher Education.

He has been actively involved with academic projects with students concerning Systems Thinking and Design which involves projects with complex issues and problems ranging from healthcare to mobility.

He has travelled lectured widely and presented his views in various forums and conferences as the keynote/plenary speaker and conducted design workshops and seminars in the areas of Systems Oriented Design, Sustainability, and Design Thinking overseas. Nahar has been the key contributor, has served as the jury member, and has also been part of scientific committees, academic, and advisory boards.

During his career Brian has provided valuation opinions and transaction advisory services for clients across the United States and overseas, including projects in South Korea, New Zealand, Japan, Thailand, Sweden and Australia. Brian has provided advisory services and financial analyses for acquisitions, corporate lending, start-up financing, business valuations, intellectual property infringement and economic damages claims.

Pauline is a managing director in the Disputes practice and leader of the Intellectual Property practice in EMEA and Asia. She has nearly 25 years of experience in the analysis of damages related to intellectual property infringement matters and commercial disputes, forensic accounting issues as well as the assessment of license and contract compliance. She has worked with clients across a wide range of industries and geographic regions, including U.K., USA, Canada, Asia, and Europe.

Pauline has served as a testifying and consulting quantum expert in IP infringement, licensing, joint venture, and commercial disputes in various dispute fora, including in State and Federal Courts of the USA. and Canada and various international arbitration institutes. She also serves as Independent Accountant under Settlement Agreements resolving IP infringement disputes and assists with the negotiation of such agreements.

She assists owners of intellectual property to protect and maximize the benefits of licensing. She works with clients to assess the risk of IP and revenue leakage in IP portfolios, performs royalty audits to identify both monetary and non-monetary compliance issues. Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Pauline was a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal Global Forensic & Dispute Services and a director with the Advisory Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Pauline is a frequent instructor at various associations, firms and academic institutes in the USA and Asia, on intellectual property, licensing, and contract compliance issues. She serves as Treasurer, Director and Executive Committee Member of the New England Legal Foundation, a member of the Finance Committee and past Chair of the Audit Committee of the Association of University Technology Managers and as a member of the Advisory Board of the YMCA Education and Training Branch.

Educated in Scotland, Ms. Booth earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, with a concentration in management. She is a fellow of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the Chartered Governance Institute (formerly the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators), the Licensing Executives Society, the Association of University Technology Managers, the American Bar Association and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Professor Jay P. Kesan's academic interests are in the areas of technology, law, and business. Specifically, his recent work focuses on patent law and policy, cybersecurity and privacy, and biofuel regulation. He is best known for employing empirical, computational, and analytical methods in his research. His recent publications can be found on SSRN (Social Science Research Network).

At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Professor Kesan is appointed in the College of Law, the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, the Critical Infrastructure Resilience Institute (CIRI), the Information Trust Institute (ITI), the Coordinated Science Laboratory (CSL), and the Department of Agricultural & Consumer Economics. At the College of Law, he directs the Program in Intellectual Property & Technology Law and co-directs the NSF-sponsored Illinois Cyber Security Scholars Program (ICSSP). At CIRI, he is the Principal Investigator of a research effort studying cyber insurance and cyber risk assessment.

He has received numerous, external research grants and awards for his work in the areas of patent/intellectual property policy and cyber security and privacy regulation from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), The National Academy of Sciences—Board of Science, Technology and Economic Policy (STEP), the private sector, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Energy Biosciences Institute, the Federal Judicial Centre, the Net Institute, the Coleman Foundation, and the University of Illinois Campus Research Board.

Professor Kesan served as one of the inaugural Thomas A. Edison Scholars at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has been actively involved in virtually every aspect of patent litigation as counsel, technical expert, legal expert, Special Master, and appellate counsel. He is an inventor and patentee himself, and he serves on the boards of directors/advisors of start-up technology companies.

He has published extensively in both peer reviewed journals and the law reviews and his research work has been cited extensively. He has testified before Congress and agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Professor Kesan was a JSPS Invited Fellow and visiting associate professor at the University of Tokyo, Japan and has also served as a Foreign Research Fellow at the Institute of Intellectual Property (IIP) in Tokyo, Japan. He is also a Visiting Professor at the National Law University (NLU) in Delhi, India. He has also taught as a visiting faculty at Georgetown University, DePaul University, Florida State University, and Seattle University.

He serves as faculty editor-in-chief of the University of Illinois Journal of Law, Technology & Policy, which published its inaugural issue in Spring 2001. He has also developed an online course on "Legal Issues in Technology Entrepreneurship," supported by a grant from the Coleman Foundation.

Professor Kesan received his J.D. summa cum laude from Georgetown University, where he received several awards including Order of the Coif and served as associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. After graduation, he clerked for Judge Patrick E. Higginbotham of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Prior to attending law school, Professor Kesan – who also holds a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering – worked as a research scientist at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in New York. He is a registered patent attorney and practiced at the former firm of Pennie & Edmonds LLP in the areas of patent litigation and patent prosecution. In addition, he has published numerous scientific papers, and he has obtained several patents in the U.S. and abroad.

Dr. Shashi Bala Singh is currently working as a Director at NIPER Hyderabad. Prior to this she was Distinguished Scientist and Director General Life Sciences at DRDO HQs New Delhi.

She has the distinction of serving as the Director of Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), Leh and Director, Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS). She is an alumni of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where she obtained her MSc and Ph.D. degree in Human Physiology and awarded D.Sc. by Bharathiar University.

She has been instrumental in guiding studies on understanding adaptation, maladaptation, performance enhancement and rapid acclimatization using intermittent hypoxia and worked extensively in the area of High Altitude physiology and has made remarkable contributions in improving the quality of life of the soldiers deployed at high altitudes. She has identified novel mechanisms of hypophagia and cognitive impairment and several signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms underlying morbidities associated with high altitude hypoxia. She worked on various behavioral, biochemical and electrophysiological studies which proved that impairment in memory function is mainly due to the oxidative stress leading to neuro-degeneration in brain structures (hippocampus, cortex and striatum) involved in learning and memory. She also worked on development of supplements with antioxidant and cholinomimetic drugs to improve high altitude induced impairment in cognitive functions.

Using translational research for improving life of troops at high altitude, her endeavors have made the life of troops comfortable in the most difficult to inhabit terrains. During her tenure as Director in Leh, she created an innovative agricultural eco-system that has enabled the socio-economic development of Ladakh via science and technology. Her efforts resulted in increased fresh food productivity through introduction of new varieties, establishment of greater infrastructure and intensification of lab to land programme. Under her guidance, various technologies/products like oxygen-enrichment facilities, Sourja (solar shelter), Bukhari, Alocal (for frost-bite) were improvised. All these help in modulating the microclimate of soldier thus providing habitability in difficult terrains. She has been instrumental in customizing various yoga packages for high altitude and hot desert conditions.

For her significant contribution to Defence technologies, Dr Singh received many awards and honors including scientist of the year award from Hon'ble Prime Minister, Macro innovation foundation Award, CSIR award for Innovation and Technology spin off award. She was also a recipient of Prof US Srivastava memorial Lecture Award for outstanding contribution from National Academy of Sciences (NASI). Under her able leadership, DIHAR & DIPAS had given Titanium Trophy by Hon'ble PM for best Science Laboratories of DRDO. She also elected fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences and Indian Academy of Neurosciences (FIAN) and Member of Executive Council of Federation of Asian Oceanian Physiological Societies (FAOPS). She was also a member of DRDO Inter-Academy panel on "Women in Science in India" Vision Document, and "Innovation Scholars In-Residence" Program at Rashtrapati Bhavan as well as in Project review committee of National Innovation Foundation (NIF). Bharat Nirman Organisation has given her Bharat Nirman Talented Ladies Award for the outstanding contribution made in field of Life Sciences. Currently she is member of Executive council of Federation of Asian Oceanian Physiological Societies (FAOPS). She has also recipient of a number of oration and Lab level technology awards.

She has nearly 170 publications in national and international journals. She has been successful in commercialization and transfer of several of her technologies and has 22 patents to her credit. Technology transfers of 10 products have been given to industries and are under commercial production. She has supervised 18 Ph.D. students. She is also Editor of Journal of Biomedicine (Physiology section) and Annals of Neuroscience.

PROF. Subhasis Chaudhuri is currently the Director of IIT Bombay, prior to which he has been the K.N. Bajaj Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. He did his B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1985, M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from University of Calgary in 1987 and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1990 from University of California, San Diego. He joined IIT Bombay as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering in November 1990 and has been here since then. He has held a number of important administrative positions at IIT Bombay, such as Gymkhana Chairman (Cultural), Convener of UGAPEC, Professor Incharge of IIT Bombay-Monash Research Academy, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dean (International Relations) and Deputy Director (Academic & Infrastructure Affairs). He has received major awards recognizing his research excellence, which include the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (CSIR), Swarnajayanti Fellowship (DST), J.C. Bose Fellowship (DST), Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Research Award, NASI-Reliance Award, the G.D. Birla Research Award and "TUM Ambassador" Award among several others. He is a Fellow of Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), National Academy of Science India (NASI) and IEEE, USA, and has also served on the Council of INSA. He has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of IIT Kharagpur. PROF. Chaudhuri is a member of the Expert Committee of Institution of Eminence, Govt. of India., member of the Institute Body of AIIMS, Nagpur and member of the Governing Board of Indo-US Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF). His research area includes computer vision, machine learning and computational haptics. He has over one hundred journal publications and over two hundred conference presentations. Dr Tej Partap, fifth term and fourth university as Vice Chancellor now, has long experience of leading hill/ mountain areas farm universities in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir ( 12 years) and now in Uttrakhand. He has international professional expertise as policy and strategy expert of Mountain farming affairs, mountain agriculture and Organic agriculture development strategies. He Carries with him experience of institutional leadership and management, both at national and international level. For over 33 years now, he was involved in managing institutions, international programs, strategic research initiatives in the field of mountain agriculture and organic agriculture.

Working as Professional staff and Head of the Mountain Agriculture Programmeat the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development ( ICIMOD) for 13 years he has made significant contributions as International Mountain Agriculture Development Policy Expert.

His record as Vice Chancellor of Hill and Mountain Agriculture Universities is also unique. After serving two terms at CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University Palampur, he was appointed third time Vice Chancellor at Sher e Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology Srinagar, which he completed in 2015.His fourth term as VC was in APG Shimla University which he left in October 2018 to join his fifth term in GBPant University of Agriculture and Technology at Pantnagar.

His involvement in building the organic agiculture movement of India started in 2003 by setting up theInternational Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture called ICCOA, as one of the FOUNDER MEMBERS. He led ICCOA as its first Executive Director for two years, 2005-2006. After that he continues to be on the Board of Directors, and as ICCOA President (from 2010-2013 and is continuing since 2016.

The National Commission on Farmers, used his services to formulate hill agriculture sector and organic farming sector reports and later he led the team which prepared the Organic sub sector proposalfor 11 th Five Year Plan. After his role in preparing the Vision and Mission 2020 of Organic Agriculture in India, he is nationally recognized as organic agriculture policy and strategy development expert. States like Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh have already benefitted from his organic strategy development expertise.

Dr Partap has long experience of international bodies- international initiatives, consortia etc. He was on the Steering Committee of the Global Mountain Program of CGIAR for three years and represented Asia Pacific as elected representative on the Governing Board of the Global Mountain Forum ( 2000-2002) . He combines in him a range of expertise, a researcher, agriculture and rural development programmes' designer, manager, implementation strategist and institutional leader with academic background in ecology and agriculture.

He is a rare person, so well versed with major mountain regions of the world. He may be among those few who can claim credit for widely travelling and working in the Andean region of South America, Alps in Europe, African highlands, Asian uplands from Thailand to Philippines and Japan and every part of the 8 countries of the Hindu Kush Himalayan region from Afghanistan to China to Myanmar . Working for 30 years in these hilly and mountain areas has helped him gain in-depth knowledge of the integrated mountain development issues and livelihood concerns, n agriculture unsustainability dynamics, state of natural resources, technological and policy issues, farming niches and other institutional issue.

The widely acknowledged outstanding achievements credited to him also include, the Tibet Agriculture sector Institutional Capacity Building programme; bringing China's sea buckthorn success story to outside world and bringing the Sloping Agriculture Land Technology of Philippines to our part of the world . In recognition of his contribution in Tibet, Dr Partap has been awarded Honorary Professor in Mountain Agriculture by the Tibet Academy of Agriculture and Animal Sciences (TAAAS) in 1996 and by the Institute of Geography and Natural Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China in 1995.

Coming from a mountain village (2500m) in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Indian Himalayas, educated in mountain village environment, professionally working for mountain areas and institutions all these years, he has deep knowledge of the diversity of environmental issues, rural communities, small farmers livelihood concerns and institutional capacities and needs. For this reason, he has also been bestowed with HIMACHAL RATAN award in 2001 by H E Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
